I'm Joe. I design, make and install bespoke fitted furniture across Sussex and Kent from my workshop in Hawkhurst. The business used to be called Seagull Carpentry. The new name reflects the furniture and cabinetry I make now.
Every piece is designed for its room, made in my workshop and fitted by me.
About me
From finance to the workshop
Before Seagull Bespoke Interiors I worked in finance. Alongside it I built up my cabinet-making skills through years of my own projects and commissions for friends and family, and in 2023 I went full-time.
What I brought from finance is how a project is run: you get drawings to sign off before anything is made, a written quote, and a formal approval before I start.
I design, make and install every project myself, so nothing gets lost between the drawing and the finished piece.

How a project runs
Tell me about your space
Send me a message with what you have in mind, a few photos of the space, and any ideas you've saved. I usually reply within one working day, sometimes with a question or two.
A call
If it looks like a good fit, we talk it through on the phone: what you need, roughly what you'd like to spend, and when you'd like it done. Typical budgets are a useful starting point before we speak.
Design
On most projects the next step is design, which is its own piece of work, priced to the size of the project. I measure up in person, then we work through the layout, materials and finishes together until it does what you need within your budget. You sign off the drawings before anything is made.
Make and install
Once the design is agreed I quote for making and installing it, usually as a separate piece of work. I make and finish everything in my Hawkhurst workshop, then fit it myself.
The workshop
Based in Hawkhurst, on the Sussex–Kent border
The workshop has its own spray booth and the equipment to make everything in-house. I've kept reinvesting in it as the work has grown, which is what lets me control the quality of every piece.
All work is fully insured. I work across Sussex, Kent and the wider South East.
