Bespoke Cabinetry & Custom Projects
Cabinetry Designed and Built Specifically for Your Home
Not every project fits neatly into a category.
Alongside kitchens, wardrobes, and fitted storage, we regularly design and build a wide range of bespoke furniture for homes across Sussex and Kent. These projects often arise where standard furniture simply doesn’t work — whether because of unusual spaces, specific design requirements, or the need for something built to a particular specification.
From fitted alcove units and custom beds to home gym storage or even standalone buildings such as saunas, each project is approached in the same way: carefully designed, built in our workshop, and installed with close attention to detail.
Why Choose Us
A Flexible Approach to Bespoke Cabinetry.
Many of the most interesting projects come from situations where standard solutions simply don’t exist.
Because everything we produce is made to order, we can design furniture around the exact dimensions of a room or the specific needs of a client.
-
Working as a small workshop allows us to use a wide range of materials depending on the project.
These might include painted cabinetry, natural timber veneers, modern laminates or solid timber components. The goal is always to create furniture that feels appropriate for the home it sits within.
-
Bespoke furniture allows us to work with the architecture of a home rather than against it.
This might include:
fitted alcove cabinetry
integrated desk areas or study furniture
bespoke beds or bedroom furniture
home gym storage systems
unusual or one-off furniture pieces
Because everything is designed from scratch, proportions, materials and layout can all be tailored to suit the room.
-
As with all our work, the same person who designs the furniture is also responsible for building and installing it.
This keeps the process straightforward and ensures the original design intent is carried through carefully into the finished piece.
“Joe’s done a couple of jobs for us - a bespoke bed/drawer/shelving unit and a simpler replacement of some cupboard doors. Attention to detail, and quality both excellent. His consultative approach will also ensure that you get exactly what you want. Would highly recommend.”
“Seagull Bespoke Interiors helped us with the design and installation of a bespoke shelving unit in our office unit. The communication was regular and prompt, and the finished product looks great and is high quality, robust and a great use of space. The installation was efficient and left clean and tidy.”
Featured Projects:
Wine Shop Display Cabinetry - Horsmonden, Kent
Bespoke Outdoor Sauna - St Leonards, East Sussex
Two Varied Projects, 2025
Wine Shop Display & Storage — Horsmonden, Kent
This bespoke display unit was designed and built for the shop at a local winery, combining practical retail storage with a clean and contemporary presentation for the bottles.
The cabinetry was spray finished in a durable painted finish, with internal components constructed from birch plywood and sealed with a clear lacquer for durability in a commercial environment. Integrated LED lighting highlights the upper display cubbies, creating a warm and inviting presentation for featured bottles.
The design balances display and practicality, with the upper section used for presentation and the lower cabinetry providing discreet storage for additional shop stock.
The result is a robust piece of commercial joinery that functions as both retail display and practical storage.
Bespoke Outdoor Sauna — St Leonards, East Sussex
This project involved the complete construction of a fully bespoke outdoor sauna, designed and built entirely from scratch.
The structure was framed using traditional timber stud construction, with 4×2 stud walls and a 10×2 roof structure, before being insulated with a combination of mineral wool and PIR insulation to ensure strong thermal performance.
The interior and exterior were both clad in thermally treated timber (Thermowood), chosen for its durability and stability in outdoor conditions.
Several elements were custom built specifically for the project, including a bespoke glazed window frame and made-to-measure bench seating, allowing the interior layout to be tailored precisely to the space.
Apart from the sauna door, every element of the structure was designed and constructed individually rather than using prefabricated components. The project required close to a month of labour to complete and resulted in a fully custom outdoor building built specifically for the client’s garden.
Materials & Build Quality
Built Properly.
Every project is built using furniture-grade materials and reliable hardware chosen for durability.
Depending on the design, construction may include:
cabinet-grade plywood or furniture board carcasses
solid timber or veneered panels
high-quality hinges and drawer systems
durable painted or laminate finishes
The focus is always on creating furniture that feels solid, functions smoothly, and integrates well within the home.
Workshop and Craftsmanship
Designed Carefully Before Being Built.
Before construction begins, each project is carefully planned and modelled in detailed 3D at millimetre accuracy. This allows proportions, clearances and layout to be resolved properly before any materials are cut.
Taking this approach ensures that unusual spaces or bespoke designs function correctly once installed.
The furniture itself is then manufactured in our workshop, allowing us to maintain control over the quality of every component before installation on site.
