Bookcases & Office Storage

Bespoke Bookcases for Your Home.

At Seagull Bespoke Interiors, we design and build bookcases and storage that are made specifically for your home.

Whether it’s a wall-to-wall library, fitted alcove shelving, or integrated office storage designed around a desk or workspace, every project is tailored to the room and the way it will be used. Each piece is built in our workshop and installed with the same level of care and attention to detail that goes into making it.

We regularly work directly with homeowners looking to improve storage and organisation in their homes, but also collaborate with interior designers and architects looking for a cabinetmaker to build carefully designed fitted furniture.

Why Choose Us For Your Bookcase Project?

Thoughtfully designed storage, built specifically for your space.

We’re a completely bespoke outfit; we don’t have a catalogue of standard units and we don’t build to preset sizes. Every bookcase and storage system we produce is designed specifically for your room and how you intend to use it.

Joe recently created and built a bookcase and media unit for us. From start to finish he’s been great to communicate with and really understood what we wanted. He sent us regular updates on his designs until we were 100% happy. The units look lovely and have made the room feel very homely. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Seagull Bespoke Interiors. Thank you!

Traditional Bookcase - Rushlake Green, East Sussex

A room with a large light blue bookshelf filled with books, a wicker chair, floral curtains, and a wooden floor.

The Rushlake Green Project, 2024

Finished in late 2024, this bespoke bookcase was designed to provide substantial storage for a large personal library while complementing the character of a traditional cottage interior.

The installation runs the full width of the room and incorporates 25mm thick solid shelves, designed specifically to carry the weight of a large number of books without sagging over time. The shelving is fully adjustable, allowing the layout to be adapted for different book sizes.

To ensure the piece felt integrated with the architecture of the house, we incorporated fluted vertical detailing and traditional coving, echoing the period features of the room and giving the bookcase the appearance of built-in joinery rather than freestanding furniture.

The result is a calm, practical library wall that provides significant storage while remaining sympathetic to the character of the cottage.

Materials & Build Quality

Built like proper furniture.

Our bookcases are constructed using furniture-grade materials and reliable hardware rather than mass-produced components.

Typical construction includes:

  • Birch plywood or high-quality cabinet board carcasses

  • Adjustable shelving for flexible storage

  • Soft-close hinges and high-quality drawer systems

  • Optional integrated desk areas or concealed cupboards

The aim is simple: bookcases that feel solid, work well in everyday use, and remain part of the home for years to come.

We regularly work with premium materials and hardware from companies such as Egger, Finsa, Blum and Häfele.

Workshop and Craftsmanship

Each Component Built by Hand.

Every bookcase begins in our workshop. The cabinetry is designed, built, and assembled here, allowing us to maintain control over the quality of every component — from the way shelves align to the way doors and drawers operate.

Before anything is built, the entire project is modelled in detailed 3D at millimetre accuracy. This allows us to carefully plan shelving heights, cabinet proportions and clearances, avoiding the problems that often occur when fitted furniture is designed without detailed planning.

Resolving these details early ensures the finished installation fits the room precisely and feels carefully considered.

Our Process

A Straightforward Approach.

  1. Initial Conversation: We discuss your room, how the storage will be used, and the style you’re looking to achieve.

  2. Design & Layout: Detailed 3D modelling ensures the furniture fits the room perfectly and that shelving and cabinets are proportioned correctly.

  3. Workshop Build: The cabinetry is built in our workshop using furniture-grade materials.

  4. Installation: Everything is installed carefully on site to achieve a precise fitted finish.
